I love reading Will Graham's writing. Even if you know, or think you know the ending, the craft put on the page makes you want to read every last word.One Minute After Midnight is a short story. If you were expecting 300 pages, this is not for you. It is a single episode or event, well told. It is the nature of my work that I have to sit and wait sometimes. My Kindle fills these times, OMAM is perfect when you need something for 15 minutes or so.
The story is a little familiar, James Bond has had this episode several times. There is an agent. He is well dressed. His female companion is striking. And, since this is a Will Graham story, she could be played by Diana Rigg in a pinch. Or Anne Hathaway, if you are to young to know Diana Rigg.
Perhaps there will be more stories of the unnamed agent. I will read them.

Couldn't sleep one night & wanted something I would enjoy but would end when I was tired. This James Bond-esque read fit the bill...exactly! Would highly recommend this adventurous little caper. Its tight action ties you in knots & tires you out in the best ways possible. I found myself wanting this to be a book-length tale, or at least, a series of short stories. So, Go. Read. It. You'll thank me later.
There is no soft slide into this short story. It starts out intense and doesn't let up until the last page. Details are unveiled within its unique pacing and all possible outcomes are understood. Cool under pressure, Basil Sinclair has one shot at getting this right and no one is more qualified than him to have the fate of the world in their hands.
Besides, who doesn't love a spy in a suit?

Lovers of spy fiction – especially from the 60s and 70s – will devour this fast-paced short story.
The hero, an ultra-cool spy working for American and British intelligence, races to uncover the deadly connection between the wealthy Viscount Antoine Bibroni and a cache of missing biological agents.
Though his real name’s never revealed, the hero is no less memorable. Working under the alias Basil Sinclair, he's as smart and capable as James Bond and as tough and determined as Matt Helm.
Author Will Graham surrounds the hero with beautiful women, deadly foes and exotic settings as he races against the clock – literally – to prevent a catastrophe.
Add in a great twist at the end and you have one hell of a read on your hands.
Where does Basil go now? I was ready for more adventures.

The party has begun and our hero. 'Basil Sinclair' is there to save the party goers and possibly the world from annihilation.
Will Graham deftly weaves suspense, glamor and intrigue into a taut and satisfying adventure.
The countdown is on.
I truly enjoyed this short story and hope to see more of 'Basic Sinclair'.
I've been a fan of Mr. Graham for a while now, and his latest short story does not disappoint. It evokes the 1960s Bond/UNCLE/"Secret Agent"/"I Spy" era beautifully; not an easy task in such a short space. The hero--who could possibly have a different alias in subsequent adventures--should definitely be a recurring character in a series of NOVELS, and I highly encourage Mr. Graham to pursue this notion. I won't give anything away here, just suffice it to say that you will spend an enjoyable fifteen minutes reading this little tale of espionage and derring-do.
